A month or so ago, noticing that comments have been down lately, the moderators of Wednesday Whining had a little discussion about whether the Brigadoon Whinefest has run its course, or what. Being the dedicated procrastinators that we are, we decided to table the discussion until after teh holidays, and then maybe ask the Pixies what you think.
When this site began, none of the new hosts thought we could hold a candle to Phantom, the founder of and creative genius behind Wednesday Whining. We still feel that way. But we loved [and still love] the community that had formed, the humor, the fabulousness of a regular time to complain our hearts out about matters big and small, silly, poetic, and mundane. We wanted to keep it going, albeit in an altered way.
Now we want to know, after 6 months of the grand Brigadoon Experiment -- what do you think?

I know I contribute rarely, but I always read. Had the Brigadoon not existed, I would've missed Yankee's Period Poem and Gary's commentary on it,that makes me very sad.
I think there are gems here that are worth reading, and certainly support worth giving. However, I realize I do little to contribute. You all decide how much trouble it is and if you want to continue.
I would miss whining, even though I mostly lurk.
I love feeling like part of the community, and you deserve mucho credit for providing me with an outlet so I didn't have to kill Imelda over Thanksgiving.
Yet, I don't do much of the lifting either, and understand that maybe Whining's time has come if the organizers are losing steam. Either way, I appreciate you guys for holding it up lo these six months.

i'm assuming nobody here accidentally left a comment written in chinese characters? not trying to censor thoughts, but that comment went to the dustbin.
The Chinese comment was mine - turns out the sesame seed size baby is fluent!
Don't feel bad about deleting it, he/she/it was only saying exactly what the two previous comments said - I like my whining! But I realize I don't do super much to contribute so its your decision if you want to keep it up.
I'll admit that since WW moved, I have been bad about whining or reading.
I always seem to remember it after the fact. (Except today b/c my whines are numerous)
I hate to think of there being no WW but I think the decision to stay or go should be up to the moderators since you guys are doing the work.
Like the others, I read often but rarely contribute. Because I came into WW late in the game - only a couple of weeks before PS handed it over - I don't know how much of a change has occurred.
For my part, I really appreciate the space to whine. I don't need much, if any, feedback - just a space to say what I can't say in the world or on my blog. I will, however, understand if the admins decide it is too much bother. Would it help if more people stepped up and volunteered to host?
What they all said! I don't contribute as often as I want to sometimes but I always read. I vote to keep our gang going and I'll do anything I can to help if you need it, but I'll also understand if it's too much work.
((I'll understand, but weep bitter salty tears, with no pixies to pass the Tequila and Kleenex))
I would miss it terribly. On the other hand, I don't have the time or energy to host it, so I would understand if our hosts find it to be too much.
I think what I'd miss most is the company. I'm terrible about reading all of your blogs, and some of you don't have blogs at all. How am I supposed to keep up on your endlessly fascinating, whine-worthy lives without WW?
That said, yeah, it's not like I'm the one doing the work around here. I will respect whatever decision the organizers make.
I don't think that the moderators mind the work (at least, I don't) but whining has definitely fallen off (I think less than 20 comments last week) and we want to make sure that this is still a needed outlet!
well, what everyone else said, of course. Some Wednesdays I just can't make it, but I almost always have a whine to contribute. It's usually the same as the previous week's whine, but it's nice that y'all don't get tired of that. Keep it up if the hosts still have the energy for it, I say.
It's nice to hear from everyone, and especially to hear that many of you are reading even in weeks when you aren't whining. I have Wednesdays like that too, sometimes, where I'm too busy or can't quite articulate my whine.
I think we're doing OK with the moderation duties and largely needed to know that enough of us are still finding it a useful place to hang out once a week.
What ccw in particular said. I usually remember on Thursday or Monday...
I don't always whine but I always read it -- if I forget on Wednesday, I go back and read it later. It's still a great community, and many many thanks to those of you who have been hosting it!
I don't have anywhere else to whine the way I can whine here. I can't do it on my blog because school officials read it. So I NEED WW. No, it's not the same, but it's so worthwhile for the community spirit and all. I always read. ALWAYS. I'd be terribly sad it it disappeared.
Uccellina took the words out of my mouth.
