June Bugs

It's a glorious day outside -- sunny, not too hot yet.  I'm chained to my fireplacing desk again.  Still.

The Giant Project is lurching forward.  It's at about that point in the process where I start dreaming about it, and wake up at 5:30 to go work on something.  Where I can cross 4 things off the list in a burst of accomplishment, YAY! -- but the list is still a mile long.

The top layer of papers on the desk is a little wrinkly.  Daughter was watering outside yesterday, and I guess she didn't realize my office window was open.  Oh, well; just a sprinkle.  With all the feline office assistance, I know better than to keep anything really important sitting around in the open.

The AW, of course, is that daughter's trying to be more helpful.  She even grocery-shopped yesterday!  We went to the movies on Saturday, at this great local art-deco theater with tables, comfy chairs, and decent food that they serve in the theater when it is ready.  Popcorn is served in metal bowls.  Rescued me from the fireplacing desk!

My beloved seems to be having a good time on his habitat-for-humanity type overseas trip.  He just sent a photo of a large friendly dog he met.  Beloved is a dog magnet in the same way I am a cat magnet.  We raised our kids bi-special (is that a word?).  Anyway, send him halfway around the world, and he will take photos of dogs.

Featured annoyance of the week:  robocallers who are overly concerned about my mortgage, utility bills, car warranty, or credit cards.

What's bugging or not bugging you?

AW: I would like to report a miracle of sorts. We spent two afternoons on the beach, and out of three pale, pale people, we had...NO SUNBURNS!

Further AW: they liked the beach

W: I still am not a huge fan, but it was fun watching the Baboos have fun

kathy a - sorry about the desk chain. Sigh. I'm glad things are looking up in other areas though...

esperanza - Yay for no sunburn and Baboo fun!

AW: we planted some herbs in our little patio planter today. With any luck they will live. Right now, I give them a 50/50 chance. For today, however, they are green and lovely and we look like we know what we're doing.

Thanks Herbs!

Esperanza - no sunburn! yay!

W: Toothache or sinus infection or both? Weekend of intense pain. Urgent care doc said probable sinus infection. Started antibiotics. Serious tooth pain. Saw the dentist this morning. Root Canal tomorrow.

W2: Doc gave me some more powerful than I expected pain relief and I took one at the office and now I think I am floating on a cloud. I think I might save these for bedtime.

hooray for no sunburn! and for the patio herb garden!

oy, sarah. hope all is better after the root canal. ugh. you might try a half dose (cut the pill) of teh meds, if they are too woozy-making. can someone drive you tomorrow?

Wow, those drugs were so strong. I feel hungover. 1/2 or 1/4 dose next time.

W2: as drugs wore off, tooth started hurting again.

Sorry about the sinus infection Sarah. Hope it clears up soon.

Hahahaha - kathy I hope you were able to stop laughing long enough to say, um, Nooooooooooo!!!

Not much whining this week!

I'm afraid I have nothing to add, except an AW:

Dear Adult Gummie Vitamins,

Where have you been all my life? For lo, all these long years of adulthood, I've been choking on the tablet (horse pills) form of my daily vitamin. Now - the wonder of the gummie! Yes!

Me.

Sarah at ratatat said...

Sue - I love gummie vitamins too!

KathyA - I hope you enjoyed telling the insurance co no!

W: Still feeling after effects of the meds this morning.
AW? I have no future as a drug addict? ha!

Sarah, hoping the root canal solves the pain trouble. Well, maybe not today but eventually. I have the same problem with pain meds, but no real solutions.

W: trying to settle into summer "routine." Trying to provide downtime, especially for Sweet. Not working out so well. When does school start again?

Sarah at ratatat said...

Esperanza - summer is when I realize homeschooling is not a good option for me. I can't create and sustain the routine. Good luck!

And root canal round 2 is next Tuesday. He couldn't quite get it all. On the plus side, it was only kind of bad. Like a really long filling. And the dentist was very nice.

Family weirdness I need to share somewhere, so you are the lucky pixies. My brother gave me a copy of the pictures that were taken of their stillborn baby. I can't look at them. Nor can I delete them. Maybe someday I'll have the courage? But I can't think of a reason to force myself to do so. Whine? I'm not sure, but it's nagging at me.

kathy a. said...

((( esperanza ))) oh, so much sorrow. he wants to know you love the baby they lost. you don't have to look; this is just something he could not share with other people. xoxox

Oh Esperanza, that's so sad. And I agree with Kathy, the impulse to share and an impossible situation. My heart goes out.

W: I am using my legitimate tears over Esperanza's news to cover some unbloggable sadness of my own. I'll feel better tomorrow, or I'll watch sappy movies to cover those tears...

kathy a. said...

((( sarah ))) so sorry about unbloggable sadness. i vote sappy movies, and whatever the heck you feel like eating. xoxo

W: i reached frustration/stress overload for unbloggable work reasons, and bled angst all over a couple of colleagues who probably didn't want to hear that stuff.

AW: think i've managed to be clear about what i do and do NOT need from members of the work team. hopefully w/o alienating them forever. it is going better today.

Wow, with the unbloggables this week. Sorry for the sadness and/or stress.

W: Swimming lessons are kicking my butt.

AW: Sweet (though--ahem--not at the top of her class) is having an absolute blast. She doesn't stop smiling and giggling the whole time (yes, including while she's supposed to be swimming). And Mini is rocking it. Holding her breath, kicking, paddling, jumping all the way in, the whole deal. I expect by the end of class next week that she'll be on her own.

Sarah at ratatat said...

Yay for Sweet and Mini, Esperanza! Sorry that swimming lessons are so exhausting and you're not even necessarily wet.

KathyA -fight the good fight. Sorry for the stress.
