So, pixies...you got any old-fashioned whines? Or new-fashioned whines? Anyone twisting hay to burn in their stoves?

Little House on the Prairie Whining
Mini has the croup. For real. I feel like we should be on Little House in the Prairie, but thankfully we live in 2011, after the invention of steroids. We will, however, cross our fingers and say our prayers that Sweet, aka Miss Compromised Lung Function, doesn't get it. Croup is the virus du jour in our town, so I'm glad Mini is keeping up with current trends. Someone around here needs to.

ack, croup! run the shower hot, close the door, sit in there singing and breathing the hot steam. then go sit in the cooler air outside. i swear, this makes things so much better. [the singing is to pass the time, although it also helps lung function.]
AW, so sorry about Mini! I hope Sweet remains unaffected.
AW: started Xmas shopping.
W: did too much. Tonight's brain status- right side (that old acorn of a migraine/Myofascial pain thing = 8/10. Left side of head = 6/10 with the full combo deal of ouch, nausea and fatigue.
W: what the heck is wrong with me??? When three docs say it could be a few weeks before I feel "right" again, why does that register in my mind as a few days? Duh.
AW/W: flowers from congregation yesterday to mark my tenth anniversary with them. Still felt awkward as the actual anniversary was Oct 1. The flowers (I think) resulted from a meltdown last week with our book-keeper, who is such a good listener that I spilled my sadness and insecurity re: said anniversary having been missed. I suspect she passed it along to someone, which is okay, but now I feel kind of embarrassed. Whatever....bygones. Nice flowers too!
Note to self: Xmas shopping in slow motion is a good thing. If I'm not done until March, that's okay.
W: forgot to add fun addition of increasing tinnitus. Oh yay.
Ditto the shower steam/cold air combo. Our youngest had croup once and it scared the bejeebus out of me.
((Sue)) - hooray for you for starting your shopping and for nice flowers, however belated.
Feeling much better, thanks to those fantastic people who choose to give blood products and several hours Friday night spend receiving those blood products.
W: Youngest cat has taken to pooking on the floor beside the litter box for no discernible reason. Ew.
Yay Days for blood products!!!! Sorry about the kitteh pook though...
(((Sue))). Pls go see the doctor again about the tinnitus.
Days, so glad you are feeling better, and thank you for reminding me to eat lots of iron-filled stuff over the next week so that I can donate blood products too.
Esperanza, everything I know about croup I learned from Ann of Green Gables. Steam, steam, steam, and ipecac. Or sulfur if that doesn't work.
Sorry, Dylanarman, we do not allow spam here.
Looks like Dylanarman comments on posts mentioning LHotP.
((( sue )))
days, glad you are feeling so much better!
work trip out of town.
Thanks, Liz, for your deletion powers.
Re: steam and cold air combo. Steam we've got. Cold air, not so much. 70 has been the low, muggy, yuck. Steroids have helped considerably, though Mini and I are both suffering from cough-interrupted sleep (I'm not coughing, but she's waking me up).
And it's National Potty Accident Day, in case you haven't been informed.
Stuck in a mire of procrastination and can't pull myself out.
Neighbor Girl has pink-eye (probably viral) and so is home from school tomorrow til 24 hrs of antibiotics (which make no sense for a viral infection, but whatever...)
AW: If you have to have a sick day, it's a pretty good thing to have, comparatively. I anticipate plenty of time to do my stuff, and lots 'o movies etc. for her, and together time at a leisurely pace. SOunds pretty good, actually.

Sorry about the pink eye NL, but have a good day at home just the same...
W: Unbloggable, rock/hard place, work stuff. ick.
NL - Ick to the pinkeye.
Sorry about the unbloggable, Sue.
Procrastination is strong here too, Liz. The kids all need haircuts but it could very well be the new year before it happens.
sue, sorry about the yuck.
NL -- here's to a quick resolution of the pink eye!
my out of town trip is going well -- two great meetings yesterday, one more this morning. [cross fingers on the great part.]
I don't think I've ever said or typed the phrase "two great meetings," kathy a. They must be spectacular.
Sue, so sorry about work unbloggableness.
W: Mini is the teensiest bit hard-headed. I have no idea where she gets this.
today's was warm and good; there may be greatness arising from it. i KNOW, esperanza! this hardly ever happens!
another really nice thing personally is that i got to know some other people on this effort better -- especially one co-conspirator.
ahem. when i checked out of the hotel, i complained that the heat/air unit did not work in my room. they said there was a wall unit controlling that -- said it in a snotty tone -- and i swear i never saw such a thing.
"two great meetings"
Wow. Award worthy wow.
My meeting last evening should have been called:
"Come along everyone! Soon you will look for pins to stick in your eyes, but come join us anyway! Don't worry friend - the meeting will only last from 6:30 to 10:30. That's good for you, right?"
Someone shoot me now. Topic of lengthy painful meeting? Yep - amalgamation and *shudder* visioning.
It took a great deal of self-control not to run screaming from the building, but I managed to tough it out.
Sheesh.
The King Must Die is not available for the Kindle except as an abridged audio book. Boo! Hiss!
Great meetings - wow. Snooty hotel staff - boo.
Amalgamation and visioning - ick.
NYC next week. Don't they have some sort of parade or something going on?
Medical Anon here, who may yet see light at the end of the tunnel.
Went to see Gastro Doc today, and am now scheduled for a "Gastric Emptying Study" and an Endoscopy. Luckily (definite antiwhine) the first test does not sound as ominous as its name implies. I have to go in, on an empty stomach, and eat some oatmeal that they have added radioactive dye to, and they will then track the progress of said oatmeal throughout the stomach to see how long it takes to move through the stomach and into the intestine.
That test is on the 23rd, and the endoscopy is on the 29th, and I go back to Gastro Doc on Dec. 7th to hear the results of both tests. I am SO glad that I do not have to hunt THEM down for the results!
Hopefully, I will have an answer, though the doc seems to think that a bacterial infection, such as H. Pylori might be the culprit.
Medical Anon, so glad you are making some progress toward getting answers, not to mention a doctor that seems to--you know, do doctor things.
I was talking with amy on Facebook tonight (she had up pics of yummy cookies!) and we reminisced about the time a bloggy friend organized a gift swap. Amy was my Secret Santa, and sent me some delicious Oatmeal Scotchies. So....that got us thinking.... Would anyone like to participate in a WW Cookie Swap over the holidays?
I would be happy to organize, and it would match participants up with someone to send cookies to, and someone who would send cookies to you! Anyone interested?
As another cookie thought too (not to preempt in any way KLee), but I always love recipe swaps....maybe the pixies could have a thread for swapping cookie recipes online....
:) Neighbor Lady
Count me in, KLee. I heart me some cookies.
Neighbor Lady -- maybe the sender could swap the recipe along with the cookies, so people know how to duplicate the yummyness? :)
Good idea!
Okay, esperanza -- that's you, me, and amy.... anyone else in for some delicious, home-baked goodness?!
