Breaking out the whine and cheeze early. It's gloomy and damp and cold; I want to curl up with the cats; but noooo, instead I'm futzing around with a BIG project, and am so BEHIND....
No, I'm not procrastinating! This post demonstrates my awesome multi-tasking skills: reducing stress while carefully pondering what to write next, and whether I should go eat something to boost energy and concentration. See?
How are you multi-tasking this week?

Stress level is getting a little out of control around here. Helping out at hubby's church because...(here is an incredible story)...children's minister was at conference in Far Away Big City with her husband in tow. Husband's heart *stopped beating* while on treadmill. Was revived by hotel security guard who started chest compressions and then used automatic defibrillator. He (the husband, not the security guard) had valve replacement surgery this morning, and they'll be in Far Away City at least till next week. So, lots of details to figure out on this end, all while telling her not to worry about it.
Main Whine: I had this kind of job one time, and never intended to have it again. She is a good friend, though, and I feel like I need to help out.
Sweet's Whine: none of her classmates came to the birthday party. Actually, that may be just my whine. She seemed to have a great time with Mini, the g'parents, and us. Not sure what happened, but discouraged that my own inability to make friends here is affecting the Baboos.
Whine: Other than the "party," when she got to do whatever she wanted, she was rather difficult to live with all weekend.
AW: Mini is wearing underwear! Out in public! With very few accidents! Thank you, O Potty Training Gods, for blessing me with one easy potty trainee.
oh, esperanza -- hope your friend's husband is OK. ya done good, stepping in, even if it's a job you don't want.
i have no idea what to say about nobody showing for the birthday party. so glad that sweet had fun anyway! but really, what is wrong with people???
No rsvp's (though requested) meant we had no idea. We had kept the guest list small to keep the party within Sweet's comfort level. Now wishing we had widened the net a bit. I guess it would have been even more awkward to have only one guest.
OK, now a big AW: *lovely* card from hubby's parishioner who REALLY gets it--a special thank you to me for giving up family time while hubby is ministering. Really. Almost no one recognizes this. AND, she included TWO, separate, very generous, checks--one for each of us. Made my day and maybe my week. Also made me cry.
that's wonderful, esperanza!
Oooh, Esperanza, that is beautiful.
W: Had a mammogram
AW: AT WORK!!
W: Cold.
AW: Fast, painless (aside from usual awkwardness).
Oh esperanza, that's a lot going on. Sorry for your friend - hope things are sorted soon. You are good to help in the meantime.
sorry too about Sweet's birthday. Same thing happened to our eldest son when he turned six. It was so very awful. Again, the family and all the cousins were there, but he was so sad that none of his school friends came. What is the matter with people who don't respond to clear rsvp instructions??? Unfortunately, that one was partly my fault - the party was on the May long weekend. Duh.
Yay Liz for the Office Mamm. Great idea! (well, except for the cold, awkward part). :)
Yay to kathy a for the first multi-tasking of the week!
AW: Preached without notes Sunday and it went really well! Also, it's Thanksgiving weekend here so I'm off today (for my stat holiday, as Monday is my regular day off anyway).
W: I should go to the gym. Don't want to. Can't make me. But I really should. *you see my dilemma* I should probably just go so I stop fighting with myself.
W: Well, I'm going to have to call the time of death of my headache relief from the most recent injections at 3 weeks. Last time I had 4 weeks. Crap.
AW: I heard from someone yesterday who said that for her at least, the third injection really began her improvement....maybe I'll give it one more try.
W: In January. Ugh.
(((Sue))). JANUARY??? They can't do it sooner?
Esperanza, I had commented about the party, but Blogger ate it. Just wanted to send hugs.
Liz, the policy of the clinic (and after checking around, it seems to be fairly standard) is four months between Botox injections. I may be able to go for a visit to receive the same injections, but with lidocaine instead - just to give me a few good weeks before Xmas. I think the policy has something to do with botox being a toxin. I get that, but still, ugh.
AW: afternoon naps. The best.
that's convenient, liz!
oh, sue. darn. wasn't the first batch with the lidocaine? hoping the monster is at least quieted some...
today has been so busy hectic busy that i'm about to drop, and it's only mid-afternoon.
dammit, Sue. Sorry that three weeks was as long as you got. Better than nothing, I know, but still. Ugh.
kathy a, I trust you didn't collapse.
AW: I owe you all an antiwhine for this one, since I've been weather whining for lo these many months. It rained this weekend! Almost two inches! W: I will now whine about the resulting mosquito population boom (srsly, mosquitoes, a little self-control, please?) and the rejuvenated fire ants (if you do not have these in your part of the world, count yourself blessed; they burrow deep in the ground when it is dry and come up to the surface when it rains again).
W: Ok, I am officially a bad person. I had the thought this afternoon, while caught in the mosh pit that was the metro this evening "if you have to try to kill yourself on the metro tracks, do you have to do it during rush hour?"
AW: Managed to hop onto a bus that was going in more or less the right direction, but wasn't the one that the thousands of people being dumped off of the metro were trying to get on and actually made it to childcare pickup on time.
W: Had been planning on working from home today until I realized that I had agreed to an afternoon meeting.
W: My three-day weekend "off" consisted of 10 hours of driving (to NYC and back), one day of fasting, and one day of sorting my mother's clothing.
Elizabeth, you need a weekend off from your weekend.
oh, no kidding elizabeth -- that really was a LONG weekend.
i've had similar thoughts about "medical emergencies" on BART, which is how they announce those kinds of things. (as always, wishing that nobody got to a place where that looked good.)
I agree Elizabeth. A weekend off from the weekend is definitely in order.
Kathy a - yes, the first treatment was with lidocaine just to see if the procedure was going to have any effect at all. It wasn't expected to have lasting results, but was more to be sure about the right trigger points/injection sites.
Since then two with Botox. First - four weeks. Second - three weeks. But, as I mentioned, three has been the charm for some people......so we'll see. In the meantime, my massage therapist will be buying a new car this year.
But didn't the lidocaine treatment last the longest?
No, the initial lidocaine was really just the test. The first Botox that lasted the longest - at least at this clinic with this doc.
Actually, the treatment in Kingston (my present doc is in Toronto) with a different doc lasted 5 weeks back in Aug 2008. He injected cortisone and lidocaine together. The next visit to the same doc, same procedure was Aug 2009 (couldn't get there until then) - only lasted 10 days.
I know. It gets complicated. In between there at some point, I also visited another doc in the USA. Same treatment as present one, only with cortisone. Same results - about a month.
Present pain doc doesn't like to inject cortisone if it's going to be a long-term treatment. Something about colloidal properties.....
I know - Booooorrrriiiingggg. Sorry pixies, I almost nodded off just recapping all of that adventure and excitement. ~sigh~
Are they willing to do Lidocaine injections more frequently?
Not boring, Sue. We just want to find that magic cure to make the fireplacing headache go away. I'm sure the power of the pixies can solve it.
my cat is on a streak this week: award-winning displays of bark on the suitcase, and arranged down the hall.
Medical Anon. here -- still in some pain, still no diagnosis, but I finally badgered my way into a CT scan at the hospital, hoping that we find something. Anything.
I go on the 18th for the scan, which I am not looking forward to, but would love some sort of resolution to this problem.
((( medical anon ))) fingers crossed! good work on badgering of medical professionals. xoxo
Fingers crossed medical anon. I hope they get it all sorted - and soon!
Kathy a gets an award for Epic Kat Suitcase Bark. What is it with suitcases??? They seem to cause the Kat bulimia every time.
I 'think' they might inject lidocaine more often. Waiting for a call back on that.....
no host awards! but really, i knew this group would appreciate the special wonder of cleaning bark off ze zipper. life is so grand in its awesome array of weird moments.
whine lost to the internet black hole ...
I posted earlier but it disappeared. Now typing one-haned... baby in the other arm, so fewer words....
- aunt flo
- bonus laundry :-(
- baby spit up
- more bonus laundry
- bra wires that poke through - 2 this week.
- running out of bras
aw: they didn't fit all that well anyway
back later with more hands. hugs
oh, JenR, there is so much of Unfair in that whine.
I join you in the bonus laundry, potty accident division.
i know which aunt is up for a cluesticking. i mean, really? plus, two bra whines?
sending laundry fairies and chocolate to all in need.
remember daughter's no hot water in the kitchen whine? ummm, upon further investigation and testing, the lines leading to the faucet were installed backwards, so the cold side is hot, and vice versa; and also, it takes a really long time for hot water to make it up there from the basement.
Ouch on bra whines! Booooo!
JenR gets an award for sheer volume.....typed with one hand!
W: you know that shin bone that always manages to get knocked when shaving one's legs? Ya, well, my leg hovered over the bath water for almost a minute because I knew the knick would sting like crazy. I also knew that getting out of the tub on one leg would have caused gross bodily harm of monuments proportion.
AW: Hubby did the potty accident laundry
JenR, Aunt Flo is visiting me this week, too.
But all y'all have better whines than me.
Things are unbloggably bad around here.
Miss all of you - Esperanza - hope you get the support you deserve and yay for potty training going well.
Sue - hope the injections help. It sounds like a a ridiculous effort to get to the point to find out.
JenR - hugs.
Elizabeth - oy what a weekend.
Small whine: still losing weight. Current theory is Celiac and Dairy intolerance brought on by stress.
Whine: I didn't see this month coming. I just hope it is the worst.
Sarah, many hugs. Your "small whines" sound bad enough. So sorry your big ones are so big.
((( sarah ))) what esperanza said.
keep whining! awards later or friday.
(((Sarah)))
(((Sarah)))
Thank you all for the hugs. Thought about getting anonymous but writing it out is too hard to explain. I hope things get better. Ready for some old skool whines in my life.
NOTE to anyone in need -- undercover whining is really fine. just use a fake name that can be distinguished from every other anonymous on the planet. (if you think i have not gone there before, think again. sometimes a person needs another layer, for the icky stuff.)
hugs to sarah and sue and medical anon. (Tried to post this before but it doesn't seem to be showing up.)
